Testing Best Practice
Best Practice in Administering Accountests Tests
Our online accounting and bookkeeping tests can be administered easily and remotely.
You do not need to be qualified in test administration to use our tests.
Follow the simple guidelines below to ensure the best testing experience for both you and the candidate.
Delivering Candidate Links
Once you’ve made a purchase you will receive links to the test via email, along with instructions for the test taker.
Please copy and forward the instructions and test link to the test taker, along with any additional information you want to include.
Once received, the test taker clicks the link to be redirected to the testing platform.
The test taker can take the test in their own time, or at a time agreed between you both.
Testing Environments
Guidelines for an ideal testing environment:
- A quiet room free of disturbance for the duration of the test - around 55 minutes in total for a 40 minute test
- Ensuring reliable hardware and a strong internet access
- Ensuring webcam is set up and available for proctoring
- Access to a calculator, pen, paper, and a glass of water
- Allowing time to work through the instructions and example questions to get comfortable with using the platform before starting the actual test
- Bathroom break before beginning the test
- After the test is complete, give clear advice to the test taker on what happens next in the selection process
Supervised or Unsupervised Testing?
The choice to have the test taken in-house is at your discretion, however, tests are designed to be safely administered remotely.
The testing platform uses tools to reduce the risk of cheating while ensuring the test taker’s privacy. Randomized questions, item banking, and proctoring all provide confidence that the test is taken honestly.
Proctoring
Proctoring minimizes the risk of cheating in a remote testing environment.
Throughout the duration of the test the webcam will capture images to detect and record any instances of cheating.
At the end of the test a report will be available to the test purchaser outlining anything of note, such as multiple faces or opening a new browser.
For more information on Proctoring, including technical troubleshooting, please see the Proctoring page.
Test Score Feedback
Test takers do not get a copy of the report when they complete the assessment, but we encourage sharing results as part of the feedback process, regardless of whether or not they are successful.
Most clients give feedback, but wait until the recruitment and selection process is complete before releasing feedback to candidates (usually by email).
