Hiring Better Admin, Processing & Support Staff Quickly & Cheaply

In the thirty years I’ve been immersed in the world of hiring, one of the things that consistently mystifies me is where businesses focus their efforts in the testing and assessment of candidates; or perhaps more accurately, where they don’t seem to value getting the hiring decision right.

All the testing effort typically goes into the ‘middle’ of the business.  People who want to be Supervisors, Managers, Lateral Hires as Accountants or other professionals can expect to have psychometric and skills tests as part of their selection process.  And so they should, as testing and assessment adds considerable value to the quality of hiring decisions in these groups.  Towards the top of the business, testing and assessment use typically tapers off as employers believe candidates track records exceed the value of testing and assessment; a mistaken belief, but that’s a whole different article.
